Highway Use Tax Permit:  Applicants for Special Hauling Permits for vehicles that have a gross weight of 18,000 pounds or more must obtain Highway Use Tax Permit.  When traveling over Thruway, Parkway, County Road, Town Highway, City, or Village or any other roadway not under the jurisdiction of the NY DOT, authority must be obtained from the appropriate authority by the Permittee.
